Cygnet Group is an investment company that has interests in various businesses, property and people.
Cygnet Texkimp
“Texkimp” was the first step of the journey. In 1974 Colin and Janet Smith started the business at their home in Knutsford, Cheshire with their focus on providing machines for unwinding fibre, called ‘creels’, through the business model of, wherever possible, using sub-contract partners in the UK for their manufacturing and selling globally. This business took a further step forward, when their son, Matthew Kimpton-Smith, a qualified accountant with some big corporate experience joined them. The Cygnet vision was born a few years later and two of the Cygnet ventures, Cygnet Engineering Developments and Cygnet Integrated Solutions became part of the one business, Cygnet Texkimp, who focus on providing machinery for the composites and high-performance fibre markets.
SECC
SECC is the first Cygnet venture that is truly becoming a beautiful swan able to fly the Cygnet nest and look after itself. This business was developed with Matthew Readman, the inventor, who had the amazing idea of how to join two pipes, that could then be pressurised, without the creation of separation forces, so there was no need for threads, catches or latches to keep the connection together under pressure. SECC has successfully introduced this technology into the sub-sea Oil and Gas market and is currently exploring which other markets would benefit most from the technology.
Property
Cygnet Group own a site in Wincham, Cheshire, which is very conveniently located close to the M6 and M56 road networks, Manchester and Liverpool airports for air transport and Crewe for the rail network.
The Group also owns an old primary school building, on Manchester Road, Northwich, which is used by a charity called ‘Changing Lives Together”, who have the mission of creating a better life for local people and improving their environment and wellbeing.
People

The group holding company, Cygnet Group Ltd., is run by Matthew and Samantha Kimpton-Smith.
